CXNE - Foxberry - Sunday 16th October 2016...

MTS Cycle Sport rider Stuart Wearmouth raced to victory in round six of the CXNE Series, staged by Teesdale CRC at Foxberry, near Richmond, on Sunday.

 

The 38-year-old from Bishop Auckland crossed the line 12 seconds ahead of Tony Fawcett (Vieri Velo), with Ian Lee (RAF CC) third in the senior race, staged on a popular course in North Yorkshire which received rave reviews from riders across the categories.

 

Wearmouth, who won the opening two rounds of the Series, took over at the front with around three laps completed after Fawcett had hit the front from the off and Lee had taken his wheel.

 

Stephen Lee (Derwentside CC) was the best of the Under-23 riders, while best veteran in the senior race was Keith Murray (Scott Racing).

 

In the race for juniors and over-40 veterans, first across the line was Beacon Wheelers youngster Mark Donovan who was more than a minute ahead of his nearest rival Thomas mein (Derwentside CC), with Fergus Robinson (Allen Valley Velo) third.

 

The first veteran came home fifth, Jamie Sharp (Feather Cycles) being 15 seconds clear of Alan Nixon (Blumilk.com).

 

Scott Racing’s Kenny Johnson was well clear of his nearest rival in the over-50s race, crossing the line 1.42 ahead of Barry Kipling (MTS Cycle Sport), with Thomas Bardgett (Beacon Wheelers) third and just inches ahead of first over-60, John Galway (Keswick Bikes).

 

Victory in the women’s race went to Karen Poole (Hambleton RC) who was six seconds ahead of Joanna Rycroft (CX Magazine), while veteran female Nicola Davies (Beacon Wheelers) was 24 seconds off Poole’s pace.

 

Hetton Hawks scored a one-two in the youth race with Joseph Allen taking the win 54 seconds ahead of team-mate Adam Jarps, while third and first under-14 was Matti Egglestone (Beacon Wheelers). Olivia Fawcett (Hetton Hawks) was the first Under-16 girl.

 

Speedflex Racing Team youngster Lewis Dolan won the Under-12 race while Grace Castle (Newcastle Phoenix CC) was first girl in that category. And in the Under-10 race Joel Hurt (Achieve Northside Skinnergate) took the win by 37 seconds, and first under-8 was Alex Hodgson (Beacon Wheelers).
